Bus & Coach Station Development: Latest

Proposals to close the top of Paris Street and re-route traffic through streets in St James are, the applicants say, essential for the success of the redevelopment of the Paris Street/Sidwell Street corner and the present Bus and Coach Station site.

Exeter St James Forum, residents' associations, many residents and parents of children at St Sidwell's Primary School disagree. The upheaval to the local road network and the very real risk of rat-running through residential streets have not been justified. Alternatives to closing Paris Street have not been seriously considered.

See the Forum's objections to the transport proposals by clicking here.

The application will be decided at a Special Council meeting on 20 January 2016. Although the deadline for comments was 3 December, it's not too late to write to Exeter City Council but please do it soon. Go to Exeter City Council website (click here) and enter appplication number 15/0791/01. Post comments online, or email Case Officer Howard Smith (howard.smith@exeter.gov.uk) or write to Exeter City Planning Services, Civic Centre, Paris Street, Exeter EX1 1NN

Postscript: despite opposition from ESJF, local residents and councillors proposals received outline consent at an Extraordinary Meeting of ECC on 20 February 2016.
